We always come across with so many romantic fictions. But all those stories always ends with marriage. Not many tried to say what happened after that. “Kabir… and his stories” by Anuj, is an independent sequel to his first book “A girl in love with a beggar”. The book is a collection of different stories about the different situations faced by the protagonist, Kabir. You can read this book, even if you haven’t read the prequel.

Life is like a complicated thriller film, where we can’t predict the upcoming twists and turns. Each situations we go through, each person we meet, creates different stories. All these stories will be unique because the different impact it makes in our life. The impacts could be positive and negative, and it’s these stories that define our life.

As Anuj says in the book, “A writer is like a girl on her menstruation cycle. He is very sensitive. He has his mood swings. One have to take care of him like a child.” That’s why it’s not easy to live with a writer. Here, Kabir’s wife, Shona is always there to take care of him. She knows very well how to handle him with his madness and mood swings.

As human beings, each person have some responsibilities towards the society. But for a writer, it is more than that of compared to others. No one could make an influence on people like a writer do. Through Kabir, the author showed this side of writers. Each story is unique by its purpose. Through each story, the author shows the different shades of Kabir, like a great teacher, a passionate writer, a great husband, a perfect friend, a wonderful human being etc… Among all the stories, the story titles “Kabir and a boring day” stood unique by its purpose.

Use of simple language can bring readers very close to the book. What I felt is that, in this case, the author has succeeded in that mission. Trough the different stories the author has tried to address some major issues of our society, which I felt good. Because, all those stories are very relevant in today’s situation. And the way he approached all these issues are interesting. So overall in my opinion, the book is good and worth a read.
